EGAT 2019: Young, European, Green

EGAT is a training programme for young people interested in European and national public and civil-green thinking.

The EGAT program is an educational, organizational and community development training course. First and foremost, we are looking for young people from 18 to 26 years of age who speak English and who are interested in European affairs, but their way of thinking is close to sustainability and green politics.

Participants will take part in a Saturday training in September 2019 and a 3-day training session on the last weekend of October. After successfully completing the two occasions, they can take part in a study trip to Brussels in March 2020 – all for free!

Candidates will be eligible if they complete the application form, and receive a written confirmation after the deadline for applications.

In case of overbooking, the candidates will be pre-screened, and we will only provide the best 20 candidates for the training.

PROGRAMME:
Through trainings with professionals, green speakers, politicians and NGO representatives, participants will learn about the history, principles, concepts, strategies and dilemmas of the green movement and eco-politics in Hungary and the European Union.

Concerning specific case studies, we will examine the political map and the actors of the Green, the social, economic and political system in which they are located. From a practical point of view, we will examine what personal, organizational and communication tasks we need in order to gain more space for eco-politics in the 21st century.

We are focusing heavily on Europe, the EU institutions, actors, history and current affairs, reflecting on the European Parliament elections in May 2019 and the political composition of the new European Parliament and the functioning and strategy of the new European Commission.

In addition to training, however, it is at least as important for the participants to get to know each other, collect and share their experiences.
